Located in the southeastern region of the United States, Tennessee is home to approximately 7+ million people. The horse Iroquois was the first American winner of the English Derby back in the year 1881 and was actually bred in Nashville, Tennessee. Since 1941, Nashville has held a popular event known as the Iroquois Steeplechase in the horse’s honor.
