Located in the southeastern region of the United States, Tennessee is home to approximately 7+ million people. Tennessee also happens to be home to Graceland, Elvis Presley’s house, which is actually the second most visited house in the entire country. Another large attraction to the state is the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, the most visited national park in the United States.

There are three geographic regions of the state, known as the Grand Divisions. Each area is of a similar size, but culturally, legally, and economically distinct. West Tennessee is a mostly flat, agricultural region, Middle Tennessee is home to the state’s capital, Nashville, and other large cities, and East Tennessee is known for its high mountains and rugged terrain.

Horse farms and horse properties in Tennessee are wildly popular, seeing as how the state is home to over 165,000 horses. Shelby County actually has more horses per capita than any other county in the nation. 3.2 million of the state’s ten million farm acres are devoted to the horse industry. Even historically, the state has had major significance when it comes to horses. The horse Iroquois was the first American winner of the English Derby back in the year 1881 and was actually bred in Nashville, Tennessee. Since 1941, Nashville has held a popular event known as the Iroquois Steeplechase in the horse’s honor.
